Nomadic Thoughts - Power Scape
An Animal Within Us (2025) Mixed media, interactive | 200 × 60 × 60 cm Humans are social beings, yet within each of us lies an untamed nature—our instincts, emotions, and primal urges. What happens when anger takes over? Is it an uncontrollable force, a hidden creature lurking inside? Is “hate” a cousin ofanger in a social context? This artwork is a metaphor for the animal within me—a presence that emerges, demanding control and negotiation. Power is not only external; it resides within, shaping our actions and conflicts. We all carry this inner creature and struggle to tame it every day. A battle within us... What does power mean when it comes from within? 2- The Monolith (2025) Mixed media, interactive | 240 × 60 ×13 cm What shape embodies hegemony? When I posed this questionto some others, the most common response was “a square.” This work translates that idea into a monolithic totem—four stacked squares, a geometrical form of power. Throughout history, the image of animals has been deeply intertwined with rituals and the notion of power. Early humans painted animals in caves, touched them, and left their handprints—echoes of belief and ritual. Though we no longer fully grasp their meanings, the connection between imagery and power remains. Have you ever wondered why the lion is the emblem of a kingdom? Why is American hegemony symbolised by a bald eagle? Why Russian hegemons can demonstrate their power through the image of a bear? What is your animal of power? An abstract creature is painted on the monolith. Touch its eyes... 3- The Consent (2025) We are all part of the modern social mechanism—seeking order, control, and existence while yearning for individuality, burdened by an underlying anxiety. When powerless, we blame those in power. But even in this imbalance, we can become elitist, humiliating others. Power is fluid; it shifts hands, making us both the oppressed and the oppressor. What does ethics say about this? Hegemony and consent are inseparable. But what is consent? A signature? A vote? It is rarely that simple. Have you everthought: an individual disconnected from reality can unknowingly reinforce power by resisting it– one of the aimsof propaganda is blurring the line of reality. Perhaps the first step to understanding power is recognising our complicity—we are not innocent. True self-awareness may lie in accepting our responsibility within these structuresand coming face to face with ourselves. Socrates once said, “know thyself.” And for that, he was killed.
